NYC Data Science Academy Introduces Remote Intensive Bootcamp

April 6, 2018 — NYC Data Science Academy has announced the launch of its remote intensive bootcamp, open to technology enthusiasts outside of the New York City area. The first cohort will begin on April 9th, 2018 with full-time, five days per week live daily instruction, live communication, real-world projects, and personalized job support.

NYCDSA courses are in high-demand. Due to this demand and the success of the remote bootcamp model with their corporate clients, NYCDSA decided to launch an additional option for students who cannot relocate to NYC to attend in-person classes. The remote intensive bootcamp will instead offer real-time streamed lectures as well as access to prerecorded modules and over 1,000 coding questions for additional practice.

Students in the remote intensive bootcamp will participate in course discussions in real-time, conversing with professors, teaching assistants, and other students. Students also have the opportunity to engage on a Slack channel with dedicated TAs available to answer questions and to converse with students in the NYC bootcamp as well as with the remote students located around the country.

Ranked among the highest on both Course Report and SwitchUp, the course covers the expanse of all the skills required in the data science industry, including both R and Python, as well as Machine Learning Theory, Big Data, and Deep Learning. Each student will complete four projects to practice various areas of skill sets that are deployable in the data science industry.

Upon completion of the remote intensive bootcamp, each student will receive personalized job support, which includes full access to all NYCDSA resources (which includes over 1,000 alumni) to help them find a data science position. The career services offered by NYCDSA are robust, including resume and LinkedIn profile review and interview skills and elevator pitch workshops. Students will also undergo a mock technical interview and coding tasks, one-on-one post-interview review and feedback, in-class industry expert series, and a project presentation and hiring partner event series. Students are also equipped with vetted mentors throughout the entire program to help them learn how to navigate the data science industry.

“We are thrilled to offer a bootcamp option to students outside of the New York City area,” said Vivian Zhang, co-founder and CTO of the NYC Data Science Academy. “We are eager to work with a broad range of students from all parts of the country to train more data scientists to fill the growing skills gap.”

NYCDSA offers various financial aid options. The company partners with Skills Fund, an innovative financing company who offers fixed interest rates on three- and five-year loans, regardless of current income, employment, or educational background.

The first cohort runs from April 9, 2018, through June 29, 2018. For more information on how to apply, visit
