Collibra Meets Full Requirements in April 2017 Gartner Market Guide

NEW YORK, April 24, 2017 — Collibra, the leading data governance software platform for business users, today announced it meets the full set of user requirements, 8 out of 8 offerings, as outlined in the new April 2017 Gartner Market Guide for Information Stewardship Applications. The Market Guide evaluates solutions from nine vendors to identify solutions that best suit the needs of business users acting in the role of information steward. Collibra is one of only two vendors Gartner cites in the Market Guide that meets the full spectrum of information stewardship requirements.

According to the Gartner Market Guide, “The critical need for information governance enforcement is driving a growing market for packaged information stewardship solutions that support it. Data and analytics leaders must assess the capabilities that these solutions offer in order to select vendors that will best suit their needs.” (See “Market Guide for Information Stewardship Applications”).

The market for information stewardship applications is made up of vendors that include some of the following capabilities in their packaged or planned solutions:

  • Information model
  • Data quality monitoring and profiling
  • Business glossary (which would integrate with a data dictionary)
  • Analytics on the data, such as model usage and workflow performance
  • Workflow/exception management
  • Business rules and policy management
  • Playbooks or preloaded templates
  • Audit trail/organizational memory
  • Integration enabled by interoperability with source and consuming systems

Such offerings may be part of a stand-alone solution or included within a suite of broader capabilities. Information stewardship applications also provide, or seek to provide, a user interface targeted at the business user role of information steward.”

“We’re delighted Gartner has listed the Collibra platform as meeting the full set of requirements for information stewardship,” said Collibra CEO, Felix Van de Maele. “We believe our inclusion in this new Gartner Market Guide is a reflection of the dedication and focus Collibra puts on addressing information stewardship and data governance from a business user’s perspective. Having this complete set of capabilities is a must so organizations can find, understand, and trust their data to gain business value.”
