Canal+ Group Utilizing Teradata Portfolio for Hadoop

PARIS, France, Dec. 17 – Teradata, the leading analytic data platforms, applications and services company, announced today that the Canal+ Group, has selected the Teradata Portfolio for Hadoop and the Teradata Appliance for Hadoop to ingest an increasing volume of diverse data related to channel surfing, Web and social networks usage. By unifying subscribers’ behavioral data across multiple channels and sources, Canal+ benefits from an end-to-end and detailed visibility into subscribers’ interactions and behaviors.

Canal+, a Teradata customer since 2005, was already using its Teradata warehouse for enterprise analytics.  Now, it is adding new technologies to support new goals. Adding these capabilities to its existing Teradata analytical environment gives the Canal+ Group a firm technological lead which endorses its ambition to be at the forefront of innovation.

The Teradata Aster Discovery Platform and the Teradata Appliance for Hadoop improve the storage and analytics feature for all datasets across the Group’s business scope and, therefore, improves the strategic decision-making process while constantly delivering additional value. Using the Teradata Unified Data Architecture, the new platform combines Teradata, Teradata Aster, Hadoop and other tools from partners that, all together, define a consistent and end-to-end architecture. With this best-of-breed environment, Teradata pioneers a framework that manages all data profiles and delivers a wide range of analytics.

“Analytics solutions provide a true competitive edge to corporations by making them more responsive to changes,” said Bernard Loiseau, director in charge of Business Intelligence, Canal+ Group.  ”The Teradata solution precisely matched our requirements because of its extended panel of analytic features, and has proven itself to be a key performance driver.”

“The Canal+ Group is innovating with Teradata technologies, and we are happy to support their projects and provide them with solutions that help meet their goals,” said Eric Joulié, president of Teradata France, and vice president of Southern Europe, Middle East Africa. ” Teradata again demonstrates its commitment to helping customers generate value from their data, and turn data analytics into a clear competitive edge.”
