Platfora Appoints New CEO

SAN MATEO, Calif., Aug. 6 — Platfora announced today the appointment of Jason Zintak as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Ben Werther, Platfora’s founder and CEO for its first four years, will assume the role of Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors and will remain active in supporting the company’s initiatives by focusing on strategy, vision, product and design. He will engage closely with key customers and remain a visible figure for Platfora in the industry.

“After a strong first half of 2015, Platfora is set to deliver 100%-plus year-over-year growth once again,” said Werther. “Our company is now at growth stage, and it’s time to hand over day-to-day operations to a leader with ample experience to scale the company in the next phase. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Jason Zintak as our new CEO.”

Zintak is a proven general manager of growth-stage companies who has helped establish disruptive platforms in the ERP, CRM, supply chain and digital marketing spaces over the past 21 years, with particular strength in scaling sales and marketing organizations. Most recently, he was Chief Sales Officer at Responsys, which was acquired by Oracle in 2013 for $1.5 billion. Before Responsys, Zintak was EVP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for JDA Software. He also spent eight years at SAP, where he served in various sales and leadership roles spanning multiple technology categories and industry verticals.

With Hadoop now ubiquitous as a big data platform, large companies are “realizing very quickly that they can’t use last-generation BI and analytics platforms on top of Hadoop to achieve data-driven business results,” said Zintak. “Ben Werther understood this five years ago and had the entrepreneurial foresight to place a bet on Hadoop and on Hadoop-native analytics when nobody else could see the opportunity. This gave Platfora an important lead over other startups and large companies that have entered the market recently.”

During Werther’s foundational years at Platfora, he created the big data analytics platform concept, raised over $65 million of venture capital and built the company’s teams. In addition, he established Platfora’s relationships with some of the world’s leading companies, including Citigroup, Sears, AutoTrader, Disney, Edmunds.com, Opower, Riot Games, Vivint and TUI Travel.
