Latest Releases of GridGain Enterprise Edition and Community Edition Announced

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., June 29 — At the inaugural In-Memory Computing Summit 2015, GridGain Systems, the leading innovator behind open source and commercial in-memory data fabric solutions that accelerate business operations and time to insights for the enterprise and in the cloud, today announced two new releases of its award-winning In-Memory Data Fabric Powered by Apache Ignite (incubating), GridGain Enterprise Edition v7.1 and GridGain Community Edition v1.1. These latest releases, which are available for download immediately on the GridGain website, include new DevOps management and automation features that help Ignite clusters seamlessly blend into Spark clusters, as well as Mesos- or YARN-based datacenter environments. They also allow data scientists to easily query in-memory clusters using SQL and to visualize the results with Apache Zeppelin (incubating).

The GridGain In-Memory Data Fabric Enterprise Edition is a proven, enterprise-grade in-memory data fabric that offers predictable, ultra-low latency at any scale, flexible horizontal and vertical scaling, configurable data consistency, high availability and enhanced security. Able to scale out or up, it is designed to run on commodity hardware on-premises or in the cloud. New in version 7.1 are the following features:

  • Spark Shared Memory: Spark users can now share state in-memory between otherwise isolated Spark jobs using native Spark RDD and DataFrame APIs. Additionally, this feature supports ANSI-99 compliant SQL queries over the shared data with super-fast in-memory indexes to guarantee low latencies and high throughput of SQL queries.
  • Integration with Apache Mesos and YARN: Mesos and YARN users can now install and configure Ignite resources across hundreds of servers, elastically add and remove Ignite resources based on demand, and to automatically manage these Ignite resources within their data centers.
  • Integration with Apache Zeppelin (incubating): Data scientists using Apache Zeppelin (incubating) can now use Ignite SQL and Ignite APIs to provide interactive SQL capabilities and graph-visualization of SQL queries.

These features are also available on the newly released GridGain Community Edition v1.1. This open source version of the GridGain In-Memory Data Fabric, built on Apache Ignite (incubating), includes optional LGPL dependencies and additional testing by GridGain.

“The explosive growth of data consumption and the rapidly falling costs of DRAM have been aggressive drivers for new data access and processing techniques handling Big Data, and more specifically Fast Data, at the speed of RAM,” said Abe Kleinfeld, President and CEO of GridGain. “These new GridGain releases directly address needs our customers have asked for: The ability to easily share state between otherwise isolated Spark jobs and seamlessly blend their Ignite, Spark and Hadoop clusters within a Mesos- or YARN-based datacenter environment.”
