Babou Selects Talend for Big Data

April 14 — Talend, the global big data integration software leader, today announced that Babou, a leading discount retailer in France with 93 stores, has selected Talend Big Data Integration. Optimized for Apache Hadoop, Talend’s agile big data integration platform is being used by Babou to modernize their data-management processes and provide the company’s senior team with the actionable insights needed to optimize operations, increase revenue and enhance the overall customer experience.

“We were sitting on a massive amount of largely untapped data that we wanted to leverage and provide in the form of a dashboard to drive better decision-making company wide,” said David Legeay, director of Information Systems, Babou. “With native Hadoop power, strong ETL capabilities and a very broad catalog of features and connectors, Talend was the only solution capable of meeting our needs and enabling us to quickly harness the full potential of our big data.”

Historically, Babou was only able to analyze transactional or revenue-related data, but recognized the need to provide access to far more data points including information on inventory, operations and supply chain, as well as the customer loyalty program. Babou created a data center within an SOA framework and, using Talend Big Data Integration Platform, a modern data management infrastructure capable of managing data flow from 100 retail outlets, 1000 providers and more than 2 million clients per month, as well as scale to meet evolving organizational needs as the company continued to grow.

Today, Talend Big Data Platform is powering a new decision-making environment connected to Babou’s overall business applications. Not only does Talend manage data integration, repair and transformation, but it also takes advantage of a Unity 3D framework to provide management and store personnel real-time access to information in a visual form from mobile devices.

“It’s very satisfying to know we played a major role in helping Babou turn raw data into a tangible good and competitive differentiator,” said Brad Stratton, senior vice president of Sales. “This agreement is another example of the significant traction we are seeing from the retail sector. Over two-dozen retailers worldwide, including two of the top five in the U.S. and the largest online retailer in Europe, now rely on Talend to drive new insights and increase customer engagement and loyalty.”

Talend is hosting live demonstrations of its Big Data Platform at Hadoop Summit 2015, taking place in Brussels, Belgium, April 15 and 16. Visitors to the event can discover first-hand how Talend simplifies the integration of big data so IT teams can leverage the full power of Hadoop to address business demands and power informed decisions.
