
Former Cloudera CPO & Hortonworks Cofounder, Arun Murthy, Joins Scale AI
Feb. 28, 2023 — Scale AI today announced that former Cloudera CPO and Hortonworks Co-founder/CPO, Arun Murthy has joined the company as Chief Product and Technology Officer. As CPTO for Scale, Murthy will oversee the entire tech stack and engineering team, and help build new tools to continue to accelerate the development of AI systems and establish the value prop of AI for enterprise across industries.
Murthy comes to Scale with deep product expertise and has spent well over a decade in the open source big data industry. Prior to being Cloudera’s chief product officer, he was co-founder and chief product officer at Hortonworks before its merger with Cloudera, leading engineering and R&D efforts across the company’s entire portfolio. Arun was one of the original members of the Hadoop team at Yahoo! Inc., where he was responsible for all Hadoop Map-Reduce code and configuration deployed across the 42,000+ servers and for running Hadoop as a service for the company.
