Andrew Moloney Joins SoftIron as Vice President of Strategy

LONDON, June 3, 2020 — SoftIron Ltd., provider of purpose-built and performance-optimized datacenter appliances, announced the appointment of Andrew Moloney to the role of Vice President of Strategy to lead the company’s go-to-market planning and execution as it expands both its product portfolio and global presence. The appointment follows SoftIron’s recent securing of a $34 million dollar Series B equity funding round, which the company will use to execute its mission to deliver task-specific datacenter appliances that are built to optimize leading open-source software, eliminating vendor lock-in and enabling better performance and efficiency.

“SoftIron has an ambitious vision to help reinvent the software-defined enterprise datacenter. Our task-specific approach is delivering performance breakthroughs while eliminating complexity, unnecessary expense and inflexibility of legacy datacenter approaches,” said Phil Straw, CEO of SoftIron. “We are fortunate to be able to harness the talents of Andrew Moloney to help direct our efforts as we embark on an exciting growth phase for our company. Adding Andrew’s strategic and analytical capabilities, as well as his strong communication skills will bring focus and direction to our efforts. Having worked with Andrew in the past, I know we are adding a proven quantity to our team who will serve as a force multiplier for our initiatives.”

“Many organizations are at an inflection point in their architecture, as they consider the implications of hybrid cloud and edge computing in their future strategy,” said Andrew Moloney, newly appointed VP of Strategy for SoftIron. “What SoftIron is doing is truly unique – taking leading open source software and building task-specific hardware platforms that redefine what’s possible in both performance and efficiency in deploying them. In the process, SoftIron is simplifying the ability for organizations to adopt open source based “software defined” architectures at scale. This will not only challenge traditional datacenter design, but will also change what’s possible at the edge. I am looking forward to helping drive the mission here.”

Prior to joining SoftIron, Moloney founded and led his own consulting firm for nine years, advising, developing and helping execute go-to-market strategies for numerous technology organizations. Before this he held senior leadership positions with a number of businesses across a spectrum of technology sectors, in both VC funded startups and large enterprises. He has been involved in a number of technology “waves” in a career that spans almost 30 years, including creating and leading the SMB business line at 3Com (now HP) through the explosion of data networking in ‘90’s, the growth of PaaS/ cloud technologies, BYOD and mobile data, and the birth and expansion of digital audio broadcasting. His last enterprise role was in the information security sector, where he held a number of business development and marketing positions with RSA Security, finally leading their EMEA marketing team. Moloney will continue to be based in the UK.
