Zoomdata Announces Partnership to Provide Unified Visual Analytics Front End for Teradata Data Platforms

NEW YORK, N.Y., Sept. 26 — Zoomdata, developers of the world’s fastest visual analytics platform for big data, today announced a partnership with Teradata, a leading analytics solutions company, featuring certified support for the Teradata Database, on-premises and on Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as the Teradata Appliance for Hadoop (Cloudera and Hortonworks editions). The partnership enables customers to leverage a distributed Teradata environment with a single, unified visual analytics front end.

The companies took the partnership for a test drive this spring when a team leveraging the combination of Zoomdata, Teradata, and AWS resources won the San Diego Smart City Hackathon against approximately 40 other teams. The City of San Diego made available a number of data sets, which Teradata hosted on AWS. Notably, Teradata’s participation included key elements of its Unified Data Architecture on AWS, which included Teradata ListenerTeradata Aster Analytics, and Teradata QueryGrid.

The winning team leveraged a combination of Teradata and Zoomdata to track ride-sharing and public transportation in real-time across San Diego County. The mobile app, called Routed, analyzes daily traffic patterns and determines the relative costs for different modes. The visual component was critically important to the winning project, putting a “consumable” interface onto the Internet of Things (IoT) analytic solutions.

“Winning the Smart Cities Hackathon with Zoomdata, which leveraged the power and capabilities of Teradata on AWS, showcased the way that streaming IoT analytic solutions can be developed and delivered in the cloud with agility,” said Oliver Ratzesberger, executive vice president and chief product officer at Teradata. “This has also underscored the value of our partnership to bring high-performance visual analytics to a spectrum of big data challenges.”

This flexibility supports Teradata’s strategy for a hybrid cloud architecture, the next generation of agility, flexibility, and integration between systems — and a more open approach to advanced analytics. Massive volumes of IoT data, including streams from sensors and digital mobile devices, have resulted in custom-tailored architectures that include Hadoop and the cloud. Teradata now provides significant options for a hybrid approach.

“What a great combination this partnership brings to customers,” said Justin Langseth, CEO of Zoomdata. “Best-of-breed data warehousing and analytics capabilities from Teradata as well as Zoomdata’s visual analytics — together providing the fastest, clearest, easiest-to-use big data analytics blended in a single, unified solution.”

Zoomdata will be showcasing these capabilities at the Strata+Hadoop World in New York City, Sept 27-29, booth #332. To learn more about Zoomdata and Teradata visit http://www.zoomdata.com/partners/teradata/.
