Zettaset Big Data Encryption Suite Earns Triple HDP Certification From Hortonworks

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 5 — Zettaset, the leader in Big Data security, today announced that the company’s Big Data Encryption suite achieved an unprecedented triple HDP (Hortonworks Data Platform) certification from Hortonworks. The Zettaset Big Data Encryption suite includes BDEncrypt and BDEncrypt Plus, the only commercial encryption solution for Hadoop that can detect unauthorized data tampering and protect the integrity of encrypted data. Certified technologies are reviewed by Hortonworks for architectural best practices, validated against a comprehensive suite of integration test cases, benchmarked for scale under varied workloads and comprehensively documented.

Hortonworks “Product Integration Certification” simplifies big data planning for customers by providing pre-built and validated integrations between leading enterprise technologies and Hortonworks solutions. As the provider of the HDP and Open Data Platform (ODPi) core Hadoop distribution, Hortonworks certification also ensures that Big Data Encryption solutions like BDEncrypt and BDEncrypt Plus from ODPi-member Zettaset are compatible with other distributions built upon the ODPi core.

“The rapid flood of digital information available to enterprises has resulted in a big data ecosystem that is challenged and slowed by fragmented and duplicated efforts. To overcome these interoperable and fragmentation challenges, our members have been working together to create a common reference specification called ODPi Core,” said John Mertic, director of program management, ODPi. “Zettaset’s certifications are a strong step in this direction, as it makes their software compatible with other ODPI-member Hadoop distributions built upon the HDP core and ODPi core. This compatibility will help make it easier to create big data solutions and data-driven applications.”

Industry-leading members of the ODP Initiative include Cap Gemini, CenturyLink, EMC, General Electric, Hortonworks, IBM, Infosys, Pivotal, SAS, Teradata, Verizon, VMware, and others.

“Zettaset is pleased to be recognized by Hortonworks for our achievements creating an advanced set of encryption solutions that easily integrate with HDP as well as all ODPi core-based Hadoop distributions,” said Jim Vogt, Zettaset President and CEO. “Our alignment with the Open Data Platform initiative provides customers with a consistent and predictable technology foundation supported by specialized ISV solutions like the Zettaset Big Data Encryption suite.”

What are the three (3) HDP certifications achieved by Zettaset?

  • HDP – The HDP Certified badge indicates that Zettaset’s Big Data Encryption suite has been certified to work with Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP), reviewed for architectural best practices and validated against a comprehensive suite of integration test cases, benchmarked for scale under varied workloads and comprehensively documented.
  • Security Ready – Apache Hadoop is secured with a number of technologies, such as Kerberos, Apache Knox, and Apache Ranger. Security Ready certification indicates the Zettaset solution is integrated with these technologies.
  • Operations Ready – Apache Ambari is the open source management fabric for Hadoop. Operations Ready certification indicates the Zettaset solution is integrated with Ambari APIs.
