Wasabi Partners with Globus to Simplify Data Management

BOSTON, Dec.11, 2019 –Wasabi, the hot cloud storage company, today announced its partnership with Globus to simplify data management for organizations to meet the demands of data-centric research environments. Wasabi users can utilize the Globus S3 storage connector to connect Wasabi with their existing Globus storage ecosystem. The Globus connector lets users easily manage files and share them between Wasabi and other storage endpoints.

Globus provides comprehensive data management capabilities—including high performance, secure file transfer and sharing—to support collaborative research.  With this service, storage systems like Wasabi hot cloud storage become endpoints that users can access using their existing accounts on that system. Globus supports all POSIX-compliant file systems; however, the research storage landscape increasingly includes cloud object stores, tape archives, and other proprietary systems. To facilitate data management across this diverse ecosystem, Globus offers premium connectors for a range of systems including Amazon S3 and S3-compatible, validated cloud storage services like Wasabi.

Wasabi provides an affordable pricing model 1/5th the price of Amazon S3 with no fees for egress or API requests. Also, Wasabi offers a highly parallelized system architecture that delivers breakthrough performance, enabling global customers to rapidly move data in and out of the cloud. Given the disruptive pricing and superior performance, the demand for Wasabi hot cloud storage has been strong and is supported with three data centers in the U.S, recent expansion in the EU and has plans to open an additional data center in APAC in the near future.
