TIBCO Partners with Kookmin University’s Graduate School of Business IT to Educate Future Business Leaders

SOUL, Oct. 4, 2019 — TIBCO Software Inc., a global leader in integration, API management, and analytics, today announced its plan to collaborate with the Graduate School of Business IT at Kookmin University in South Korea, with the goal of expanding data analytics capabilities and knowledge in the field of business information technology. As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the Graduate School and TIBCO will engage students through workshops, research capabilities, and other practice-based training to empower students with advanced analytic skills essential for their careers after graduation.

Under the arrangement, selected TIBCO tools will be available for the students, who will receive hands-on practice, as well as support, for various data analytics techniques to implement in future research and employment.

“Data analytics is emerging as a vital trend, especially for business, and having the right skillsets and talent is a demanding challenge,” said Erich Gerber, senior vice president, APJ and EMEA, TIBCO. “Recognizing that computer software and AI are key focus areas in the digital transformation age, the South Korean government has released a plan to groom 10,000 professionals in this space by 2023. Data analytics is an essential tool for helping future business leaders understand and improve organizational decision-making. We are honored that this partnership with the Graduate School of Business IT at Kookmin University allows us to develop students’ knowledge with hands-on learning opportunities, which will help empower the next generation of leaders in the data analytics world.”

TIBCO Spotfire solutions will be used by Business IT majors in two key courses: data mining and business analytics. Students can also use TIBCO’s advanced industry solutions to enhance graduate research in future studies.

“The Graduate School of Business IT at Kookmin University has always been open to collaborations that provide our students with a greater variety of learning opportunities within our curriculum. It is a pleasure to partner with TIBCO so that we can fulfill our promise of a high-quality education for business students,” said Dr. Kim, Namgyu, dean, Graduate School of Business IT, Kookmin University. “This exposure to analytics software will help our students in their future research capabilities and employment. Over the next two years, we will also establish a data visualization course to teach TIBCO Spotfire for one semester, and hope it will be an important starting point for a long-term partnership with TIBCO.”

In addition to this partnership, TIBCO is working with other universities across Asia, equipping students with relevant skill sets to cater to the growing demand for data analysts in the region. To learn more about TIBCO’s industry and higher education partnerships, please visit www.tibco.com.
