Sumo Logic Delivers Machine Data Analytics to Microsoft Azure Marketplace

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Sept. 21 — Sumo Logic, the leading cloud-native, machine data analytics service, today announced it has joined the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, providing real-time business operational and security insights into infrastructures and modern applications running on Microsoft Azure. In addition, Sumo Logic has released two new certified offerings for Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), as well as the ability to ingest log and host metrics data from any Sumo Logic supported OS collector.

According to analyst firm IDC, by 2020, about half of all new business software purchases will be of service-enabled software, with cloud software making up more than a quarter of all software sold. The significant increase in adoption of Microsoft Azure has positioned it as one of the leading cloud providers, offering organizations the ability to easily extend their investment in Microsoft technology to take advantage of the economics and speed of the public cloud.

“Moving to the cloud does not mean organizations have to sacrifice visibility or control over their infrastructure and applications,” said Nir Mashkowski, director of program management at Microsoft. “The addition of Sumo Logic’s award-winning cloud-native machine data analytics service to the Microsoft Azure Marketplace enables our customers with full-stack visibility to simplify and automate operations as they migrate from traditional on-premise data centers to the cloud, and do so with clarity and confidence. Our close partnership with Sumo Logic further illustrates Microsoft’s commitment to building an open and inclusive cloud platform with Azure.”

New Sumo Logic Offerings for Microsoft Azure

Sumo Logic is the industry’s first machine data analytics platform to natively ingest, index and analyze structured metrics data and unstructured log data together in real-time. The platform unifies logs and metrics, transforming a variety of data types into real-time continuous intelligence across the entire application lifecycle enabling organizations to build, run and secure their modern applications.

Sumo Logic’s two new certified offerings in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace collect valuable diagnostic, performance, audit and security data for infrastructure and modern applications running in Microsoft Azure. These include:

Sumo Logic for Azure Audit

The Sumo Logic Azure Audit offering provides visibility into Azure Audit Logs and Active Directory data and highlights what actions were taken on resources in a subscription (for example, the creation of virtual machines, starting websites, dropping databases, Active Directory actions by user and more). Sumo Logic delivers the ability to view this data in real-time as well as enable historical analysis which is critical for compliance auditing.

Sumo Logic for Azure Web Apps

The Sumo Logic Azure Web Apps offering lets developers easily monitor and visualize the health of their Web Apps environment via preconfigured dashboards, providing immediate visibility into server and application errors, response codes, where people are coming from, response times, data traffic over time and more.

“The real-time management of cloud applications is a complex and difficult task,” said Stephen D. Hendrick, principal analyst at ESG. “Sumo Logic’s new offerings on Azure for continuous data collection and analysis of physical and virtual resource utilization, as well as infrastructural services and applications performance, provides a comprehensive foundation for addressing monitoring, management, governance, and operational requirements.”

The new certified offerings for Microsoft Azure, along with the corresponding applications in the Sumo Logic Apps Library, will help organizations:

  • Accelerate Cloud Migration – Migrate to Microsoft Azure faster with confidence by mitigating application performance risk via powerful automated metrics and log files analytics.
  • Visibility Across Hybrid Environments – Visualize and run operations and security on your workloads in real-time, identify issues and expedite root-cause analysis across Azure, other clouds and on-premise environments, from the infrastructure and up to the application stack.
  • Strengthen Security and Compliance – Monitor user access, platform configurations and changes across all Azure and on-premise workloads as well as generate audit trails to demonstrate compliance (e.g. PCI, HIPAA, etc.).

“As more and more organizations leverage modern-day, cloud-based infrastructures like Azure, it’s critical that they have visibility into operational and security activity to help manage audit and compliance, and identify unusual behaviors that might compromise data security,” said Mark Bloom, director of product marketing for Sumo Logic. “Our support for Microsoft Azure enables Sumo Logic customers to tackle the volume, variety and velocity of cloud-generated data — both log and host metrics data — and derive continuous intelligence on any cloud platform they choose.”

The Sumo Logic offerings for Microsoft Azure are available now and free to all Sumo Logic customers. For more information, please visit: https://www.sumologic.com/azure/.
