Submissions Open for Inaugural IDC Future Enterprise Best in Future of Intelligence Awards

NEEDHAM, Mass., Aug. 9, 2021 — International Data Corporation (IDC) today announced the inaugural IDC Future Enterprise Best in Future of Intelligence Awards designed to recognize organizations that have successfully learned to synthesize information from raw data, learn from these insights, and leverage them at scale across the enterprise. Specifically, IDC is looking for details on implemented initiatives, as opposed to ideas or planned initiatives. Awards recognizing unique solutions and business success stories will be presented at a ceremony in March 2022. To submit a nomination, visit HERE. Deadline for submission is September 30, 2021. If you have questions regarding your entry, please contact IDC.

IDC’s Future of Intelligence research practice offers organizations strategies to become learning enterprises built on evidence-based cultures. The new awards program is designed to acknowledge those organizations that have consciously implemented strategies that increase enterprise intelligence and as a result have improved business outcomes. Enterprise intelligence is driven by (1.) technology and (2.) culture, which ensures that the organization as a whole is able to synthesize information and learn unbounded by organizational or technical limitations.

Primary requirements of all Best in Future of Intelligence nominations are:

  • Must be a Future of Intelligence initiative as defined by IDC.
  • All nominations must be in production with existing customers/users since January 2019.
  • Must be able to articulate and show key performance indicators to demonstrate improved business outcomes.

Note: IT Vendors and Technology Consultants do not qualify for the IDC Future Enterprise Awards. Vendors may instead nominate completed projects on behalf of their clients.

Best in Future of Intelligence award categories include:

  • Ability to Synthesize Information – This is the process of taking discrete, objective raw facts about people, places, things, and other entities and organizing them for generating insights and intelligence, which may include addition of context.
  • Capacity to Learn – This refers to the facility to learn as an organization, developing an awareness about and understanding of the relationships among various pieces of information and previously developed knowledge, and their application to a particular problem. It combines monitoring, capture, curation, and dissemination of tacit and explicit knowledge from people and machines, both individually and in connected networks within an enterprise and with its external stakeholders.
  • Delivery of Insights at Scale – Delivering insights at scale means providing contextual and actionable decision support and decision automation functionality for everyone in the enterprise, from executives and managers to analysts and frontline workers (and machines), Delivery of insights is done through scalable, secure, and manageable cloud, hybrid, edge, and endpoint deployed data, analytics, knowledge management, and AI technology. Enterprises will ensure delivery of insights at scale by surfacing actionable information to all users (human or machines).
  • Data Culture – These organizations have excelled in building a culture around being data-driven. They have demonstrated their commitment to improving data literacy and data culture in their people; have a stated vision that includes data; have quantified and track measurable goals around their use of data; and encourage data-related collaboration across all levels of their organization.

“In the Future of Intelligence, organizations will rethink how they define and invest in enterprise intelligence, focusing on approaches that scale,” said Chandana Gopal, research director, Future of Intelligence at IDC. “Our latest awards program will showcase those forward-thinking organizations that demonstrate either the capacity to synthesize information for some useful purpose, the capacity to learn and understand the relationships among various pieces of information and expose across the enterprise, and/or the ability to deliver actionable decision support and automation functionality to all users (human or machine). We look forward to learning more about these successful projects and offering as a best practice example for others looking to replicate similar intelligent initiatives.”
