Splice Machine Joins Hortonworks Technology Partner Program

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Feb. 3 — Splice Machine, provider of the only real-time transactional SQL-on-Hadoop database designed for Big Data applications, today announced that it has joined the Hortonworks Technology Partner Program. The partnership enables companies to use Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) and Splice Machine to build their real-time SQL-on-Hadoop applications.

“Splice Machine is excited to partner with Hortonworks, the leading open source Apache Hadoop provider,” said Monte Zweben, CEO and co-founder of Splice Machine. “Together, Hortonworks and Splice Machine will power a new generation of Hadoop-based applications that can harness real-time data and move Hadoop beyond batch processing.”

Splice Machine recently announced a limited Beta release and will announce general availability in Q1 2014. Splice Machine users will be able to harness innovations in management, provisioning and security for HDP deployments. For HDP users, Splice Machine enables them to build applications that use ANSI-standard SQL and support real-time updates with transactional integrity. This enables Hadoop to be used in both OLTP and OLAP applications.

“Hortonworks is pleased to partner with Splice Machine to enable real-time, transactional SQL-on-Hadoop database applications,” said John Kreisa, Vice President of Strategic Marketing, Hortonworks. “When you combine the innovation of HDP and Splice Machine’s real-time updates with transactional integrity, the result is a flexible and high-performance platform designed for real-time applications.”
