ScyllaDB Introduces Scylla Manager for Greater Centralized Control of Scylla Database Clusters

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 21, 2018 — ScyllaDB today announced Scylla Manager, a new addition to Scylla Enterprise that improves the manageability and reduces the administration of Scylla deployments. Scylla Manager centralizes cluster administration and automates recurrent tasks, such as periodic repair to Scylla Enterprise clusters, bringing greater predictability and control to Scylla-based environments.

Scylla is a drop-in Apache Cassandra replacement that is powered by C++. Utilizing the best from Apache Cassandra in high availability, fault tolerance and a rich ecosystem, Scylla offers developers a higher performing and more resource-effective NoSQL database to power their demanding applications.

Administrators can use Scylla Manager’s sctool command-line interface to initiate and schedule management operations and to monitor the progress of the repair task at each point. In its initial release, Scylla Manager automatically learns the cluster topology and keyspaces, and creates a default, once-per-week, full cluster repair. Upcoming releases of Scylla Manager will provide rolling upgrades, recurrent backup, and will manage the full, lifetime orchestration of multiple clusters.
