RAIDIX Continues to Deliver Storage Solutions to Mariinsky Theater

Oct. 17, 2019 — The Mariinsky Theater in Saint Petersburg brings forward the multimedia projects based on the empowered storage infrastructure.

The Mariinsky Theater possesses a truly outstanding cultural heritage that includes audio and video records, collections of sketches, musical scores, photographs, and interviews. The collection becomes larger every year, with the annual input of digital data exceeding 200 TB. This is a challenge for the theater IT team that needs to meet the growing demand in storage capacity.

Adding to that, one of the most important means to deliver the content for the audience is mariinsky.tv website with regular live broadcasts from several theater stages. Thousands of viewers join live streams to watch the performance.

The Mariinsky Theater and RAIDIX have been partners since 2010 when the first RAIDIX-based data storage system was successfully installed in the theater. The operation and maintenance of storage infrastructure proved RAIDIX to be the optimal choice of management software due to its advantages and characteristics. RAIDIX ensures high speed of video record during the performance and uninterrupted operation with thousands of users accessing the files in the archive. Integrated solutions are flexible and scalable according to the needs of the theater team.

In Q1 2019, the Mariinsky Theater team has held the open contest for the renovation of inner IT services, and RAIDIX 4.X was re-established as the best software product to support the multimedia storage infrastructure.

RAIDIX software is widely used in Saint Petersburg: in addition to the Mariinsky Theater, these are the Kunstkamera Museum, the Mining University, and the Tauride Palace.
