MariaDB Adds NoSQL Listener Capability as Technical Preview

Sept. 10, 2021 — MariaDB just announced a technical preview of their newest addition to Maxscale 6 — a NoSQL listener capability, which listens for traffic that contains NoSQL data to store and manage in a MariaDB database.

The listener’s functionality is made possible through a new nosql protocol module, which enables a MariaDB server or cluster to be used as the backend of an application using a MongoDB client library.

That’s right, you read that correctly; you can store NoSQL document data, provided by a MongoDB driver, directly within a MariaDB database.
