The Advisory Board has since established, “Taming the Wild West: Establishing ROI in the Big Data Frontier” as the official theme for the 2016 summit. To elaborate and expand on this theme, the following subtopics have also been determined.

Leverage Big Data ’16 Conference Sub-Themes Include:

Operationalizing Data Science

Building Analytic Models that Create Value in the Era of Big Data

Today’s enterprise gathers and stores all kinds of data in hopes of one day extracting the information necessary for the next big breakthrough. But any insights gleaned should not exist in a vacuum. To succeed in this big data world, one must put these insights into use and operationalize them – and that sometimes requires different technologies that exist outside of the traditional data center operations. We’ll examine successful models that have driven new value for organizations.

Achieving Big Data ROI – Delivering on Big Data Monetization Strategies

Identifying Needs, Technology and Talent to Deliver on the ROI Promise of Big Data

The challenge for organizations has been the same for decades: how to get ahead of the competition. Today organizations are looking at the data for a competitive advantage and are trying to capitalize on their ability to monetize big data. Key problems are keeping companies from finding consistency in their returns, including a shortage of skilled practitioners, technology that is still iterating, and a big data fog of war that can prevent companies from identifying needs. Getting through these challenges requires a roadmap. We’ll examine winning strategies to show how leaders are moving the return on investment needle for consistent returns.

Big Data Governance and Process – Mission Possible?

Establishing Order in the Chaotic World of Data (and Analytics) Democratization

For years, a compelling future vision was the attainment of the “democratization of data,” in which data analytic power is available and easily accessible at all levels of the organization – from the CEO’s office to the call center to the production floor. Today’s data services and platforms emphasize the accessibility of data to a broader spectrum of users – through meta-data that feeds self-service portals, online analytics, and even mobile apps and securing data, ensuring the right people have access to the necessary data yet far away from those that don’t. We’ll examine best practices on governance and process to get data out to decision makers securely.

Storage Strategies – Cloud, Disk, Flash and Even Tape

Understanding the Economics, Impact, and Strategies of Storage in the Big Data World

Storage is the gravity that either pulls big data dreams back to earth, or propels them at warp speeds to success. From speed and reliability, to cost, and security, there are several things to consider when determining the best storage strategy for your big data operation. We will examining strategies on choosing the right storage options – cloud, disk, flash and even tape – for the right applications. We’ll walk through case studies that examine what works for data tiering and best practices for evaluating the storage conundrum.

Addressing the Big Data Talent Challenge

Strategies for Tackling the Big Data Talent Gap

Of all the challenges of building a big data environment that produces consistent ROI, identifying and recruiting talent that can produce valuable insights from the stacks of available data is becoming increasingly hard across all industries. Huge competitive advantages exist for companies that can get a handle on this problem. We’ll look at strategies that companies are using to identify, attract, and develop talent to help bridge the big data talent gap.

The Rise of Real Time Analytics

Creating efficiencies that maximize results, minimize costs, and increase returns

As data volumes grow, as the time-to-insight window shrinks, and as technology continues to improve, companies who wish to remain competitive will have no choice but to adopt real-time analytics. While real-time analytic systems are nothing new for the likes of big telcos and retailers, the rapid maturation of big data technologies is quickly making real-time analytics a reality for the rest of the world. Many enterprise IT staffs are struggling to make real-time analytics a reality. We’ll examine the ups and downs of solutions that are being employed to drive real time analytics that build value and drive success.

The summit is fully paid for qualified attendees (including flight, hotel, meals and summit badge).
