IBM Recognizes Premier for Big Data and Analytics

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 25 — Premier, Inc. has been named a 2014 IBM Beacon Award winner for information management innovation using big data and analytics.

Premier was recognized for its integrated technology platform PremierConnect, as well as its newly launched enterprise-wide analytics solution PremierConnect Enterprise.

Each year, the Beacon Award is given to a select number of IBM Business Partners who have delivered exceptional solutions to drive business value and transform the way their clients and industries do business.

“Throughout the world, our Business Partners deliver innovative IBM-based solutions across a variety of industries,” said Marc Dupaquier, general manager, IBM Global Business Partners. “As a Beacon Award winner, Premier consistently helps their clients achieve business objectives with these winning solutions, and we’re pleased to recognize them for their expertise and commitment to excellence.”

More than half of the nation’s hospitals have access to PremierConnect. The platform combines patient data on 1 in 4 U.S. hospital discharges, evidence-based best practices from 2.5 million daily clinical transactions, and $40 billion in annual provider purchases. PremierConnect gives providers the power to make real-time, data driven decisions.

PremierConnect Enterprise extends the capabilities of PremierConnect through cloud-based data warehousing that integrates big data from disparate systems, trusted information, collaborative development and access to expertise. Designed in collaboration with Premier member health systems, it allows providers to focus on using information to improve patient care, instead of managing data and infrastructure. PremierConnect Enterprise enables information-driven health systems that can integrate and interpret their data, any way they want to.
