Oct. 21 — Hortonworks, Inc. (NASDAQ: HDP), a leading innovator of open and connected data platforms, today announced LIXIL Corporation has selected Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) as its data analytics platform. HDP is a secure, enterprise-ready open source Apache Hadoop distribution based on a centralized architecture. HDP addresses the complete needs of data-at-rest, powers real-time customer applications and delivers robust analytics that accelerate decision making and innovation.

LIXIL Corporation is a global leader in housing and building materials, products and services, and was formed on April 1, 2011 through consolidation of Tostem, INAX, Shin Nikkei, Sun Wave, and Toyo Exterior. LIXIL constantly invests in technology innovations to improve the ways its customers live. It’s core strengths are in water, housing, building and kitchen technologies. By deploying HDP, LIXIL will offer cutting-edge technology and quality support through the connected data platforms that serve as its foundation for data management. LIXIL is also implementing technologies from SAP to revamp the systems of the consolidated companies and standardize its business on a global scale.

As LIXIL’s strategic partner, Hortonworks will support LIXIL’s growth as a lifestyle-technology corporation by offering the platform innovation and support for it to collect, accumulate, and analyze all of its data.

“LIXIL is a fantastic example of the pattern we are seeing across the North Asia region, as more businesses look to move to next-generation data architecture, said John Kreisa, vice president of international marketing, Hortonworks. “Customers adopting Connected Data Platforms are uncovering new opportunities and efficiencies, not to mention the clear and measurable impact on the customer experience, all of which are critical elements of a successful business.”

Hortonworks develops, delivers, and supports fully open source platforms for collecting, accumulating, and analyzing data. Hortonworks employs the largest number of Apache Hadoop developers and architects. HDP is an open platform powered by Apache Hadoop that manages data-at-rest. Hortonworks DataFlow (HDFTM), powered by Apache NiFi, is an open platform that manages data-in-motion and enables real-time processing. To maximize the potential of Hadoop and its ecosystem, Hortonworks has over 1,800 partnerships as part of its core strategy.
