GeoSpock Confirms Commitment to Japanese Market with New Office Opening in Tokyo

SINGAPORE, Oct. 7, 2019 — GeoSpock, the extreme-scale spatial big data platform company, is cementing its commitment to the Japanese market with the opening of a GeoSpock Japan GK office in the heart of Tokyo. Already backed by its strong Japanese partners Global Brain, 31 Ventures by Mitsui Fudosan and KDDI, GeoSpock is now in an ideal position to service local mobile operators, asset and logistics companies, automotive manufacturers and data tech businesses.

GeoSpock’s presence in Japan will see the company drive rapid transformation potentially across all industries by leveraging the emergence of “the Physical Internet” powered by Internet of Things (IoT) sensors. GeoSpock aims to provide the necessary solution that enables local citizens, government agencies and partners to make sense of disparate, expansive data sets from a dynamic and ever-changing environment.

Richard Baker, CEO of GeoSpock, said, “The pace of innovation is breathtaking in Japan. We are already seeing the use and analysis of geospatial data benefitting citizens and businesses, and there is potential to do so much more. As cities like Tokyo become more connected, GeoSpock aims to simplify access to huge data sets and unlock sustainable and user-friendly benefits for citizens, businesses, cities and ultimately nations.”

To drive GeoSpock’s growth locally, Motohiro Watanabe has been appointed as General Manager of GeoSpock Japan GK. He is an experienced business developer with almost two decades of extensive experience managing sales of computer software solutions, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In his new role, Watanabe’s main responsibility will be to grow the GeoSpock business and team in Japan.

Watanabe said, “Geospatial technology is a powerful emerging technology for smart nations like Japan. Many businesses are interested in adopting smart technology but are not quite sure how to reap its full benefits. With GeoSpock in Japan, we hope to bridge that gap and convey to partners and potential clients exactly how we can leverage geospatial data to go beyond deriving insights and analysis, to better understand and satisfy business needs.”

In June 2019, GeoSpock announced its expansion into Asia with the opening of its first Asian office located in Singapore. The Cambridge-based big data analytics company plans to add up to 30 people in commercial, technical and data science roles in Asia over the next two years, in response to the rapid growth in demand for robust data infrastructures that support innovation in the region.
