Continuent Tungsten Replicator Certified by Hortonworks

SAN JOSE, Calif,. July 8 – Continuent, Inc., a leading provider of open source database clustering and replication solutions, today announced that its Continuent Tungsten Replicator has been certified by Hortonworks, a leading provider of enterprise Apache Hadoop.

Continuent Tungsten Replicator 3.0 enables organizations to quickly and easily transfer data incrementally from operational database systems such as MySQL, MariaDB, and Oracle and write into Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) with little impact on the performance and stability on either the source database or the Hadoop cluster.  Tungsten Replicator captures transactions in source systems upon commit and immediately enqueues them for loading into HDP.  Users do not have to alter applications or schema, thereby enabling quick and simple deployment of data loading.  Configurable load procedures also allow users to choose Hortonworks data latency based on business needs rather than limitations of traditional ETL software.

Continuent’s latest certification assures customers that the quality and consistency of real-time data loading into Hortonworks’100-percent open source Hadoop will not affect the operational capability or stability of their operational database systems. Today, there are numerous solutions that move data into the Hortonworks Data Platform for processing, but in modern heterogeneous environments the ability to transfer data in real-time from MySQL and Oracle is becoming increasingly important.

By supporting HDP, customers can mix, match and transform data using a wide range of tools including Hive, Spark, and Pig while continually loading the data into the Hortonworks Data Platform for processing. The Hortonworks certification also confirms that the data replicated by Tungsten Replicator matches the source and target to ensure the utmost in data quality.

“Hortonworks’ Certified Technology Program simplifies big data planning by providing customers with pre-built and validated integrations between leading enterprise technologies and the Hortonworks Data Platform,” said John Kreisa, vice president of strategic marketing at Hortonworks.  “After a careful review process and validation against a comprehensive suite of integration test cases, our mutual customers can be confident that Continuent Tungsten Replicator can replicate transactions to HDP, enabling the benefits of open source Hadoop and meeting the stringent requirements and data needs of today’s modern data architecture.”

Additionally, Hortonworks has certified that Tungsten Replicator will work with both the Hortonworks Data Platform 2.0 and 2.1, while ensuring that the data loading will be supported during the lifetime of the data platform.

Tungsten Replicator is completely open source, offered with 24/7 business-critical support subscriptions, which confirms that Tungsten Replicator is a safe, solid and long-term solution for replicating raw data into HDP.

“Our customers rely on Continuent Tungsten Replicator to perform the real-time data replication needed to run business-critical applications on cost-effective open source software,” said Robert Hodges, CEO, Continuent.  “With the Hortonworks certification, our mutual clients can apply a high-performance, low-impact approach to transfer data from multiple upstream systems into Hadoop and rapidly extract useful information from the billions of daily transactions common in today’s modern, data-driven businesses.”
