Cask Partners With Tableau to Deliver Rapid Insights From Big Data

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 28 — Cask, the company that makes building and running big data solutions easy, today announced it is partnering with Tableau, a global leader in visual analytics. The partnership brings Tableau’s powerful visual analytics platform through an ODBC connector to the Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP), the first unified integration platform for big data.

This integration enables organizations to easily analyze and glean insights from big data with both CDAP and Tableau. CDAP makes it easy to ingest any type of data from any type of source into Hadoop and automatically integrates with Hive to make it available for SQL access. With the CDAP ODBC connector, enterprise users can then quickly and easily explore that data with Tableau’s visual analytics solution.

“Cask focuses on empowering businesses to get more value from their data, faster, but without the right tools users end up frustrated and wasting effort,” said Nitin Motgi, CTO at Cask. “Our partnership with Tableau and the integration of CDAP with its analytics solution is a great example of how we are enabling customers to accelerate time to insights from their investments in Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark and other big data technologies.”

“The value of data lies within the insights and big ideas that people are able to find in their data,” said Dan Kogan, Director of Product Marketing at Tableau. “Supporting our mission of helping people see and understand their data, CDAP makes it easier for developer and IT teams to build applications and acquire data with skills they already have, which should help get valuable data into the hands of our customers more quickly.”

About CDAP

The first unified integration platform for big data, Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP) lets developers, architects and data scientists focus on applications and insights rather than infrastructure and integration. CDAP accelerates time to value from Hadoop through standardized APIs, configurable templates and visual interfaces. It enables IT organizations to broaden the big data user base within the enterprise with a radically simplified developer experience and a code-free self-service environment. CDAP is 100% open source, and along with its extensions Cask Hydrator for data pipelines and Cask Tracker for data discovery and metadata, it seamlessly integrates with existing MDM, BI and security and governance solutions.
