BlueData Brings On-Demand Provisioning and Automation to Dell EMC Ready Solutions for Big Data

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 11, 2018 — BlueData, provider of a leading container-based software platform for AI and Big Data workloads, today announced that new Dell EMC Ready Solutions for Big Data are powered by BlueData EPIC software. These integrated solutions enable a cloud-like experience for Big-Data-as-a-Service (BDaaS) while ensuring the enterprise-grade security and performance of on-premises infrastructure.

On-premises infrastructure integration and implementation for Big Data analytics applications can be complex; it often takes months for a large-scale enterprise deployment with bare-metal infrastructure. And the public cloud isn’t an option for many data-intensive workloads, particularly when security and compliance policies dictate where data must reside. From a TCO standpoint, public cloud services can also be significantly more expensive than on-premises solutions over time.

Now there are integrated BDaaS solutions from Dell EMC that provide the self-service and agility of the public cloud along with the enterprise security, reliability, and performance of on-premises infrastructure. And with the power of containerization and automation from BlueData, they deliver significant cost savings: up to 75% lower cost than bare-metal deployments, while increasing server utilization by up to 350%.

The new Dell EMC Ready Solutions for Big Data are part of portfolio designed to help customers achieve faster, better, and deeper data insights. The Ready Solutions portfolio combines pre-tested and validated Dell EMC servers, storage, networking, and services optimized for specific use cases – such as Big Data analytics and machine learning. Dell EMC has worked closely with customers, along with its partners BlueData and Intel, to create these new solutions.

With Dell EMC Ready Solutions for Big Data, customers can rapidly deploy their analytics and machine learning workloads in a secure multi-tenant architecture, for multiple different user groups running on shared infrastructure. Their users can quickly and easily provision distributed environments for Cloudera, Hortonworks, Kafka, MapR, Spark, TensorFlow, as well as other tools. The new Ready Solutions include everything that customers need to enable BDaaS on-premises – including BlueData EPIC software as well as Dell EMC hardware, consulting, deployment, and support services.

These new solutions further strengthen the existing go-to-market relationship and technology collaboration between BlueData and Dell Technologies. BlueData is a Select Partner in the Dell EMC Technology Connect Partner Program, establishing a reseller agreement that added BlueData EPIC to the Dell EMC price list for its global sales teams and channel partners. In addition, BlueData is a key component of the Dell EMC Elastic Data Platform – a flexible solution that includes Dell EMC Isilon and Dell EMC Professional Services, with the ability to support hybrid cloud deployments. Dell Technologies Capital is also an investor in BlueData.

“BlueData has a long established relationship with Dell EMC and many successful joint customer deployments across multiple geographies,” said Kumar Sreekanti, co-founder and CEO of BlueData. “It’s exciting to see this continue to grow with new joint offerings like the Dell EMC Ready Solutions for Big Data. We look forward to even more success together going forward, as we extend our collaboration to address new AI workloads such as machine learning and deep learning.”

To find out more about the new Dell EMC Ready Solutions for Big Data, visit the BlueData booth (# 1034) at the Strata Data Conference in New York City this week, September 11th to 13th.

Attendees can also learn about the key infrastructure considerations and options for Big Data analytics and machine learning, in a session with Dell EMC and Cloudera on Wednesday September 12th at 11:20am: “DIY versus designer approaches to deploying data center infrastructure for machine learning and analytics.”
