Big Data Career Notes: November 2018 Edition

In this monthly feature, we’ll keep you up-to-date on the latest career developments for individuals in the big data community. Sydney Carey

Sumo Logic has announced that Sydney Carey has been appointed as its CFO. Carey was most recently CFO of Duo Security, with previous CFO experience at Apttus, Zascaler, MongoDB and TIBCO, and has been recognized as San Francisco Business Times’ Bay Area CFO of the Year.

“Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of helping lead several of the fastest growing and innovative SaaS companies through phases of high growth, and in my view, Sumo Logic is executing at every level to be the next market disruptor,” said Carey. “Significant investments in the platform, talent and go-to-market strategy are a strong indication of the company’s plans for continued global success and I look forward to working with the leadership team to take Sumo Logic through its next phase of growth.”

Kiki Haar

Sumo Logic has also announced the appointment of Kiki Haar as its general counsel. Haar was previously general counsel and chief privacy offer at Informatica. Previous to that, Haar spent nearly a decade at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati law firm, and has nearly 20 years of experience in privacy and financial executive work.

Scott Howser

AtScale has announced the appointment of Scott Howser as Chief Product Officer. Howser was previously responsible for the integration of Nutonian at DataRobot. Prior to DataRobot, Howser served as the president and CEO of Nutonian. He has held similar positions at Hadapt, Vertica and Acopia.

“AtScale has an unprecedented market opportunity,” commented Howser.  “Enterprises are consistently looking for ways to simplify and accelerate their data architectures while enabling transformation and advanced analytics.”

Dennis Johnson

Qlik has announced that Dennis Johnson has been promoted to CFO after serving on an interim basis for several months. Johnson will be responsible for all financial planning, accounting and reporting functions. Johnson has served in various financial roles at Qlik since 2009, including vice president of finance and director of accounting and external reporting.

“I’m excited to continue my journey at Qlik in this new role,” said Dennis Johnson, Qlik CFO. “Qlik is in a strong position from a product and financial standpoint to drive and lead in the enterprise data and analytics market, and I look forward to helping Qlik continue to deliver world-class innovation and company performance.”

Ravi Ramachandran

Okera has announced the appointment of Ravi Ramachandran as vice president of sales. Ramachandran previously served as vice president of global sales at Waterline Data. He has previously held leadership positions at CSC, AppLabs, Xchanging, Pegasystems, Scient (Microsoft) and Lewtan (Moody’s Analytics).

“Okera uniquely solves a problem every enterprise struggles with, regardless of size, industry or resources, by delivering access to data on-demand while maintaining proper data security and governance,” said Mr. Ramachandran. “I’m excited to be a part of the Okera team and look forward to collaborating with our customers to ensure we expand our capabilities to support their evolving needs.”
