Big Data Career Notes: August 2018 Edition

In this monthly feature, we’ll keep you up-to-date on the latest career developments for individuals in the big data community. Whether it’s a promotion, new company hire, or even an accolade, we’ve got the details. Bob Brennan

AtScale has announced that Bob Brennan has joined its board of directors. Brennan was formerly chairman and CEO of Veracode and has two decades of operational experience building and scaling enterprise software companies.

“Bob’s ability to scale and advise enterprise software companies brings tremendous value to AtScale. His leadership and experience will be invaluable to the entire team as we continue to experience unprecedented global growth and adoption,” said Chris Lynch, CEO of AtScale. “We have known each other for over 10 years, often advising one another informally. I am delighted to have someone of his caliber join our Board of Directors.”

Damon Fletcher

Tableau Software has announced that it has appointed Damon Fletcher as CFO. Fletcher has been serving as Tableau’s interim CFO since February and has worked with Tableau since early 2014. Prior to joining Tableau, Fletcher was a CPA with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

“Over the last few months, Damon has proved without a doubt that he is the right person for the job of CFO,” said Adam Selipsky, Chief Executive Officer at Tableau. “We are pleased and excited to be able to fill this role from within the Tableau family and look forward to Damon’s continued expertise and leadership at the company.”

“Tableau has remarkable products that have revolutionized the way organizations leverage their data to make decisions,” said Fletcher. “Given the rapid growth in data and the continued expansion of the analytics market, I’m thrilled for the opportunity to lead our high-performing employees at Tableau to help all of our customers see and understand data.”

Tom Heiser

AtScale has announced that Tom Heiser, executive chairman of SiteLock, has joined its board of directors. Heiser has held leadership positions in organizations including EMC Corporation, ClickSoftware, and RSA Security.

“AtScale’s ability to federate traditionally disparate pools of information and seamlessly incorporate emerging technology platforms is increasing flexibility and productivity for enterprises globally,” said Heiser. “The team has developed a compelling offering in an increasingly critical industry. I’m excited to join the Board of Directors at this stage of the company’s development.”

Kelly Herrell

Hazelcast has announced that Kelly Herrell has joined as its new CEO. Herrell recently served as senior vice president and general manager of Brocade Communications and has helped build four successful Silicon Valley companies. “I am delighted to welcome Kelly Herrell to Hazelcast,” said Greg Luck. “Kelly brings a wealth of experience and a track record as a leader who can scale our business into the future.”

“Hazelcast is deeply relevant to the new IT architectures driving digital transformation for the world’s largest companies,” said Herrell.  “Our products deliver uniquely exceptional performance and scale for the remarkable new applications that our customers are building. Greg Salcido

Sapience Analytics has announced that Greg Salcido has been appointed executive vice president and CFO. Salcido has held financial leadership roles with companies including Dr Pepper Snapple Group, NCH Corporation and J. Hilburn.

“Sapience has been experiencing accelerated growth, and I am excited to join the company’s seasoned leadership team at such an exciting time,” said Salcido. “Sapience is a must-have product for employers looking to leverage data-driven people analytics that empower operational efficiencies. I look forward to contributing to the company’s continued success.”

“Greg’s global financial experience across a variety of industries will serve Sapience and our stakeholders well,” said Killinger. “His wide-ranging experience, as well as his strong financial and operational expertise, will be instrumental as we continue to grow.”

Jit Saxena

AtScale has announced that Jit Saxena has joined its board of directors. Saxena is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Netezza (which was acquired by IBM for $1.7 billion) and founded and led Applix. Saxena currently advises a number of tech startups.

“Jit’s an incredible leader who knows what it takes for companies like AtScale to create and ultimately dominate enterprise markets. He’s taken two companies public and is a highly sought after advisor. The timing is perfect for us to leverage his experience as AtScale is on a meteoric trajectory,” said Chris Lynch, CEO at AtScale.

Lynn Vojvodich

Looker has announced that Lynn Vojvodich has joined its board of directors. Vojvodich was formerly EVP and CMO of Salesforce and a partner at Andreessen Horowitz. She currently sits on the board of directors for Ford Motor Company and Booking Holdings.

“Looker is a very well positioned company in an increasingly relevant industry,” said Ms. Vojvodich. “The company has impressed me with its strategic vision and its strong and healthy corporate culture. I look forward to working with Looker’s leadership team during the company’s next stage of growth.”

Gary West

Kinetica has announced that Gary West has been appointed as vice president of sales, EMEA. “Gary brings strong direct and channels experience to the Kinetica team by driving SAP HANA sales and before that, Sybase, where he was wildly successful for both organizations,” said DeMartino. “He has the domain expertise and a ton of energy, and he will make a great addition to the team as we scale our cross-industry sales effort in EMEA.”
