Big Data Career Notes (Oct. 2016)

In this monthly feature, we’ll keep you up-to-date on the latest career developments for individuals in the big data community. Steve Singh 

steve-singhTalend has appointed Steve Singh, the founder and CEO of Concur, to its board of directors. He will assist the leadership team at Talend with their efforts in the cloud and big data spaces. Singh also serves on a number of other boards including Docker, SAP SE, Modumetal, and Center ID, to name a few.

“The technology industry is seeing significant demand for solutions that can help companies of all types leverage their data effectively for a competitive edge,” said Singh. “With its experienced team and leading data and cloud integration products, Talend has a clear opportunity to become the next-generation leader in a dynamic, high-growth market. I’m excited to join the team and help Talend work to achieve that.”

Grant Bodley

grant-bodleyGrant Bodley has joined Infoworks as head of sales. Prior to his new appointment, Bodley worked at Hortonworks as the general manager of global manufacturing. He also spent a number of years at SAP where he held a number of different positions, most recently, vice president of strategic customer accounts. He has over 25 years of sales, consulting, and business management experience.

“Having been at the forefront of Hadoop Adoption over the last several years, I have personally experienced the challenges faced by Fortune 500 companies when using Hadoop to achieve their top use cases. Infoworks is the only company that has developed a comprehensive end-to-end solution to data warehousing on Hadoop — perhaps the biggest challenge that Hadoop customers are facing. I’m thrilled at the opportunity to work with Infoworks to help customers unlock the potential of Hadoop,” said Bodley.

Beth Gaspich

beth-gaspichNICE has promoted Beth Gaspich to CFO. She previously served as the CFO of NICE Actimize and held that position since 2011. Before joining NICE she was the CFO at Archive Systems.

“I am delighted to promote Beth to CFO and have her join our management team. Beth is a strong business partner and has had a key role in driving NICE Actimize’s business growth and success,” said Barak Eilam, CEO. “Beth’s vast experience and knowledge of our market and industry will be instrumental as we continue to execute on our strategy and further grow our business. I’m proud that at NICE we have the depth of talent and the right leaders in place who can readily step up when opportunities become available, demonstrating our organizational strength.”

Narayan Sundareswaran

narayan-sundareswaranNarayan Sundareswaran has been named the vice president of business development for Couchbase. He recently served as the SVP of global business development at DataStax. Prior to DataStax, Sundareswaran spent over 12 years at SAP in a variety of different positions. He has over 30 years of experience leading business development strategies within the tech industry.

“Couchbase’s technology is truly unmatched and is enabling some of the world’s largest enterprises to build next generation applications for the digital economy,” said Sundareswaran. “I am looking forward to continuing the great momentum Couchbase has seen and opening new opportunities for the company as it looks to power the critical applications of the future.”

Steve Fitz

steve-fitzSumo Logic has appointed Steve Fitz as the company’s new chief revenue officer. Fitz spent the last four years at MapR where he was the senior vice president of worldwide field operations. He will be responsible for Sumo Logic’s worldwide customer and field operations efforts.

“Cloud computing is creating extraordinary opportunities for companies to disrupt every sector of technology. With well over 1,000 customers and 100 petabytes of machine data analyzed daily, Sumo Logic has emerged as the clear SaaS leader in a category expected to grow exponentially as companies increasingly become more software centric,” said Fitz. “This early success, coupled with a strong and committed team of executives, investors and board members, is what made me want to join the team, and I look forward to building a best-in-class sales and customer success organization.”

Ron Miller

ron-millerClockwick has named Ron Miller the VP of security analytics. Miller has spent over 20 years in the security industry and most recently worked at Solarflare as the technical marketing director of security. Miller has also spent time at M5 Systems, Solarwinds, StoredIQ, and Extreme Networks, to name a few.

“Traditional approaches to cybersecurity are failing,” said Miller. “Cloudwick gets it — they understand that cybersecurity has become a big data and advanced analytics problem that requires a next-generation solution. Cloudwick is solving today’s big cybersecurity problems and I’m looking forward to being part of such a transformational organization.”

Peter Finter

peter-finterPeter Finter has been appointed CMO of Couchbase. He served as the CMO of Gigamon for the past three years and spent a number of years at Juniper Networks and Nortel prior to that.

David Downing

david-downingDavid Downing has joined SnapLogic as the company’s new CMO. He recently served as the CMO at BlackLine Systems and held the same position at Zscaler prior to that. He’s also spent time at NetSuite, Oracle, Informatica, and SAP. Downing has over 30 years of B2B technology marketing experience.

“SnapLogic has all the necessary ingredients to become a company for the ages — a top-notch leadership team, a proven and innovative product, an impressive roster of happy customers, and incredibly smart people throughout the organization,” said Downing. “I’m thrilled to be joining the company at this important juncture and I look forward to working with the team to help take SnapLogic to the next level.”
