Zettaset Joins Open Data Platform Initiative

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 17 —  Zettaset, the leader in Big Data security, today announced that it has accepted the invitation to join the Open Data Platform (ODP) Initiative — a shared industry effort to promote and advance the state of Apache Hadoop and Big Data technologies for the enterprise. Now, Zettaset’s enterprise-class security solutions will be available to global enterprises running mission critical big data applications built on the ODP Core.

ODP’s mission is to accelerate the delivery of Big Data solutions by providing a well-defined “common core” platform upon which distributions based on Apache Hadoop can be built. The ODP Core simplifies the development of interoperable technologies, enabling Big Data solutions like those from Zettaset to flourish atop a common core platform.

“The members of ODP are excited to partner with Zettaset as a new member. We are incredibly impressed with Zettaset’s patented technology and focus on providing enterprise-class security for Hadoop users,” said an ODP spokesperson. “We believe that enterprise users of the ODP Core will benefit immeasurably from Zettaset’s participation.”

Members of the ODP Initiative include industry-leading firms such as IBM, EMC, Hortonworks, VMware, Verizon, Splunk, General Electric, Pivotal, Cap Gemini, CenturyLink, Teradata, SAS, and Infosys.

“According to ESG research, security is the top concern for organizations evaluating big data and analytics solutions, matched only by return on their investments,” said Nik Rouda of Enterprise Strategy Group. “A standardized Hadoop platform makes it easier to ensure the safety of sensitive data, and Zettaset joining the ODP reflects these trends.”

Zettaset, the leader in Big Data security, is an ISV with proven enterprise-class data protection that is compatible with any Hadoop or NoSQL database. Zettaset data encryption, access-control, and policy enforcement solutions are uniquely designed and optimized for scale and performance in today’s complex and demanding distributed-computing environments.

“Zettaset and its advanced big data security solutions are aligned with the Open Data Platform initiative for one simple reason,” said Jim Vogt, Zettaset President and CEO. “With a standardized Hadoop distribution built around ODP, customers now have a much more consistent and predictable technology foundation supported by a wide choice of long-standing systems vendors as well as specialized applications like Zettaset’s enterprise security. This technology platform stability and vendor inclusiveness inherently reduces risk, giving customers greater confidence to deploy Hadoop as a mainstream solution in the enterprise.”

Customers can rely on Zettaset to deliver advanced Big Data security solutions like BDEncrypt that are simple to deploy and easy to fit into existing IT security and policy frameworks. Seamless integration between Hadoop clusters running on a mix of storage systems across multiple data centers, enabling support for public – private hybrid cloud deployments.
