WANdisco Announces New Partnership With EMC

SAN RAMON, Calif. and NEW YORK, N.Y., Sept. 30 — WANdisco (WAND) the leading provider of continuous-availability software for global enterprises to meet the challenges of Big Data, today announced a new partnership with industry-leading storage systems vendor EMC Corporation Through this partnership, large enterprises with production Hadoop deployments can take advantage of the unique capabilities offered by combining EMC Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS) and EMC Isilon storage systems with WANdisco Fusion patented replication technology.

With WANdisco Fusion, Hadoop clusters running on EMC’s ECS and Isilon storage systems, as well as other HDFS compatible storage in both public and private cloud environments integrate to provide a consistent view of an organization’s data across all clusters and locations, without downtime or data loss, to meet the most demanding SLAs. At the same time, customers can scale up their Hadoop deployments to double their current size by converting formerly read-only standby backup and recovery servers and clusters to full production use.

“This new partnership with EMC demonstrates that WANdisco Fusion’s technology is critical for enterprise’s with Hadoop deployments that span multiple distributions and storage systems, and it’s something customers have been asking for,” said David Richards, WANdisco CEO and Co-Founder. “WANdisco Fusion continuous availability and performance can be designed into the customer’s Big Data infrastructure from the start, ensuring their Hadoop deployments can exceed the most demanding SLAs and scale up rapidly without additional hardware and other infrastructure costs.”

WANdisco Fusion offers a flexible, easy-to-deploy architecture that can be implemented across mixed storage environments, including Oracle BDA, Cloudera, Hortonworks EMC Isilon and Elastic Cloud Storage, and MapR. With all platforms, the functionality is the same.

This announcement coincides with WANdisco’s Zettabyte sponsorship of the Strata + Hadoop Summit in New York, September 29 to October 1 in booth 325. Jagane Sundar, WANdisco CTO, will present, “Eventual consistent systems A.K.A. mostly inconsistent systems vs. strongly consistent systems in big data,” on Thursday, October 1.
