Simba and Alteryx Extend Partnership

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 11 — Simba Technologies Inc. – the industry’s choice for standards-based relational and multi-dimensional data connectivity on in-memory, cloud and Big Data – and Alteryx, Inc., the leader in data blending and advanced analytics, announced today they have extended their partnership to provide analytics on any Big Data source. Alteryx will use Simba’s suite of Big Data drivers to connect to any source including Cassandra, Google BigQuery, HBase, Hive, Impala, MongoDB, and SAP BW. Simba’s drivers are built on the ODBC 3.52 specification to deliver extreme performance, provide broad compatibility and ensure full functionality for users analyzing and reporting on Big Data.

“Alteryx Analytics empowers line-of-business data analysts to do quick and easy data blending from almost any source, and then perform advanced analytics,” said George Mathew, president and chief operating officer, Alteryx. “Using Simba’s Big Data drivers allows Alteryx users to capitalize on critical data across their enterprise, enabling real value to be driven from blending all types of relevant data. We have been using Simba’s ODBC driver for Hive and are excited to extend this successful partnership.”

“SQL is the lingua franca of the enterprise world. Simba’s drivers bring SQL capability to any Big Data source. Simba’s expertise at data connectivity has been a competitive advantage for Alteryx and is the reason why every major Big Data vendor including Cloudera, DataStax, Google, Hortonworks, and MapR have chosen Simba’s Big Data ODBC drivers,” said Amyn Rajan, Simba’s CEO. “Simba’s ODBC 3.52 driver technology maps SQL functionality to any data, anywhere, any time to enable broad, SQL-based BI/analytic support. Alteryx users gain easy and direct access to all their enterprise data with the full performance of the Alteryx Strategic Analytics platform.”

ODBC is the most common data interface used by Business Intelligence (BI), analytics, and reporting applications for relational data connectivity. It was developed jointly in 1992 by Microsoft and Simba Technologies and has been the flagship API for SQL ever since.

There is tremendous user and vendor interest for SQL-based BI access within the Big Data community. Simba’s ODBC 3.52 and JDBC 4.0 drivers are a significant advancement over those being developed and deployed by others. Compliance with the latest ODBC 3.52 standard adds many important functions and features like Unicode support and 64-bit for high-performance computing environments. Simba has had impressive success mapping SQL to NoSQL data sources like Cassandra, Hive and MongoDB. Its ODBC 3.52 drivers integrate any data with world-class analytic platforms like Alteryx – delivering full functionality and the desired performance for Big Data analytics and applications.
