Simba Announces ODBC Driver Developed for Apache Drill

VANCOUVER, B.C., Oct. 16 –– Today Simba Technologies Inc., the worldwide leader in Big Data connectivity announced the availability of an ODBC driver from Simba Technologies developed specifically for Apache Drill. MapR Technologies recently introduced Apache Drill 0.5 into its namesake distribution for Hadoop.

“We chose Simba Technologies again for its leadership in the ODBC connectivity space,” said Tomer Shiran, Vice-President of Product Management, MapR Technologies. “Simba’s commitment to fast, seamless connectivity supports our objective to enable a wider audience to leverage existing SQL analytics tools.”

Apache Drill is a low-latency distributed SQL query engine for Hadoop and NoSQL. Now available in the MapR Distribution, Drill brings next-generation ANSI SQL to Hadoop, and empowers data scientists with instant, self-service data-access to multiple data sources.

“With Drill’s innovative approach to working with a wide range of data and enabling self-service data exploration, MapR has redefined SQL-on-Hadoop,” said Simba Technologies CTO George Chow. “The MapR Distribution now includes the best-in-class ODBC 3.8 connectivity from Simba. This seamless connectivity is the ideal complement for Drill’s dynamic SQL-querying capabilities and support for schema-less data. With MapR, enterprises can analyze more Big Data from more sources using more applications.”
