Metanautix Launches Quest 2.0 With Software-Defined Data Mart

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 23 — Metanautix, a big data analytics company focused on simplifying the data supply chain, today announced the launch of Quest 2.0 which includes the first of its kind Software-Defined Data Mart (SDDM). Quest 2.0’s SDDM enables teams to rapidly and securely build data marts using existing virtualization infrastructure like VMware, instead of buying new hardware. Business units like finance need only see the data that matters to them, while IT can provide centralized operations and apply necessary audit and governance. The product enables the natural integration of established EDW technology like Teradata with novel big data systems in a way that works with visual analytics like Tableau or Excel. “Metanautix enables organizations to simplify the querying of disparate sources of data whether it’s stored in Hadoop, MongoDB, CouchDB, Salesforce, or other sources,” said Tony Baer, principal analyst at Ovum. “The data compute engine is not only able to federate data integration with query, but it also offers high performance analytics through SQL and BI tools like Tableau or Eclipse.”

Quest 2.0’s SDDM builds on key innovations in Quest such as:

  • Encapsulation: data is bundled together as a logical unit — i.e., a SQL catalog
  • Security: users of a given department are only able to access their data mart
  • Auditability: introspection through standard InformationSchema tables
  • Caching: data may be automatically cached or explicitly snapshotted as needed
  • Scalability: multi-node commodity cluster deployment

“Quest 2.0 Data Marts delivers a solution that CIOs faced with a proliferation of data silos can use to empower the business in a scalable manner,” said Theo Vassilakis, CEO and founder of Metanautix. “The Data Marts can flexibly self-fill by referencing data from the silos, role-based access controls enforce data governance, and distributed systems technology delivers performance while improving cluster utilization.”

Quest 2.0 works within an organization’s existing architecture and doesn’t require data to be moved to a centralized system first. The solution simplifies and speeds-up data analysis for more effective collaboration, governance, security, privacy and compliance.
