MapR to Keynote and Sponsor Big Data Everywhere Chicago

SAN JOSE, Calif,. Sept. 24 —  MapR Technologies, Inc., provider of the top-ranked distribution for Apache Hadoop, today announced its lead sponsorship and participation in Big Data Everywhere in Chicago, an all-day Hadoop event aimed at helping organizations understand the technical, business and practical aspects of Hadoop and related technologies. The conference includes several sessions from companies currently using Hadoop; Conversant, Cigna, Fermi National Accelerator Lab, Orbitz and Twitter will cover real-world use cases.

Big Data Everywhere in Chicago will be hosted by the Chicago Hadoop User Group (CHUG) on October 1 at the Union League Club of Chicago. The conference will offer two tracks: 1) development, dev ops and data science and 2) architecture and business cases. In addition to all-day presentations, there will be breakfast, lunch and a post-event social networking session. Cisco Systems, Platfora and WWT are also sponsors of Big Data Everywhere Chicago.

Ted Dunning, committer to Apache Mahout, Drill and ZoolKeeper projects and chief application architect for MapR, will present a session in the morning on “SQL on Hadoop — Pros, Cons, the Haves and Have Nots.” Jim Scott, director of enterprise architecture and strategy at MapR, will provide a keynote presentation titled, “Enabling Operational Analytics on Hadoop.”

Ted Dunning commented, “I am excited to see the speakers that CHUG has assembled for this event. They have an agenda that explores a full range of technical topics related to Hadoop. And, I especially look forward to the ‘hallway sessions,’ which are great times to meet and speak with quality people.”
