IIA to Showcase Research on Talent and Big Data

Oct. 22 — Two top executives from The International Institute for Analytics (IIA) are among a select group of featured speakers at this year’s Premier Business Leadership Series presented by SAS. IIA Research Director Thomas H. Davenport and Sarah Gates, IIA’s VP of Research, will lead discussions on leading-edge analytics topics uncovered by IIA, the leading research firm focused exclusively on serving the business analytics industry.

Gates, who oversees IIA’s research quality and manages a faculty of leading analytics experts, is the featured presenter of a session entitled “Solving One of the Most Pressing Analytics Problems Today: Talent.”

“I’m pleased to be able to share IIA’s latest findings on analytics professionals with the audience at PBLS in Orlando this year,” Gates said. “IIA has uncovered practical techniques for companies to better attract, organize, leverage and retain analytics talent. As companies struggle to find enough skilled analytics professionals, our findings will arm attendees with practical advice to maximize the value they are getting from their existing teams and allow them to attract new resources.”

Davenport, co-founder of IIA and the President’s Distinguished Professor of IT and Management at Babson College, will lead a knowledge exchange on Analytics 3.0, the new era of analytics where leading organizations realize measurable business impact from the combination of traditional analytics and big data. With examples of technology platforms, staffing and prescriptive analytics applications, Davenport will show how high-performing companies embed analytics into the fabric of their organizations to generate millions of insights per second.

Davenport will also lead a keynote panel discussion with Jill Dyché, VP of SAS Best Practices. The panel will dive into the work Davenport and Dyché authored on “Big Data in Big Companies: Pragmatic Research Results and Implementation Strategies.”

“Well-known analytics thought leaders such as IIA co-founder Tom Davenport and IIA VP of Research Sarah Gates underscore the solid insight to be gained at the Premier Business Leadership conference. Attendance at the event has grown every year because of such stellar speakers offering strategic guidance to the audience of senior executives on topics including big data, visualization, analytics talent recruitment and retention,” said Radhika Kulkarni, Vice President of Advanced Analytics at SAS. “These executives are looking to the power of scalable analytics for ways to solve their hardest and most complex problems.”

Today’s announcement came at The Premier Business Leadership Series event in Orlando, a business conference presented by SAS that brings together more than 600 attendees from the public and private sectors to share ideas on critical business issues.
