CAC’s Pension Management System Adopts MapR for Hadoop Infrastructure

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 21 — MapR Technologies, Inc., provider of the top-ranked distribution for Apache Hadoop, today announced CAC Corporation (CAC) has adopted the MapR Distribution including Hadoop for its “Micmari” cloud-based pension management system. Designed for enterprises as an open-source distributed processing infrastructure, the MapR-based system was developed by ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC), one of the largest system integrators in Japan and a MapR reseller partner.

The “Micmari” pension management service was developed through the know-how accrued from CAC’s in-depth experience building many pension systems for large corporations and banking institutions. “Micmari” offers users the ability to reduce system management costs, including those that occur during system changes and during system switchovers. Groups involved in administrating corporate pensions of companies, funds, and more can manage pensions from one unified platform and can customize web services to match their unique strategies. The system easily and quickly processes terabytes of data depending on the number of people it’s managing and flexibly handles rapidly increasing calculation volumes.

“MapR offers an innovative Hadoop platform which increases performance, availability, fault-resistance, and adds security measures and data protection in order to provide companies with a product superior in overall performance,” said Masanori Tanaka, general manager of IT Solution Business Division at CTC.

Yukihisa Shigemaru, practice lead of CAC, added, “By adopting a system which combines MapR and CTC offerings, we have achieved a reduction in initial costs and operation costs, reduced batch processing time, and as such expanded system usability time, enabling us to offer higher quality and more flexible services.”

In addition, “Micmari” runs on ElasticCUVIC, a unique enterprise-grade, cloud-based service provided by CTC, which has partnered with CAC to utilize CTC’s Big Data Processing Lab to run advanced testing on “Micmari” and ElasticCUVIC combined with MapR.

“We’re pleased to partner with CTC to launch innovative cloud-based services in the Japanese market,” said Martin Darling, vice president, Asia Pacific & Japan, MapR Technologies.  “The growing volume of data processed in CAC’s pension management service is a perfect example of leveraging Hadoop in order to stay ahead of changing data management requirements.”
