Accenture and Hortonworks Join Forces to Help Businesses Manage Big Data

July 8 — Accenture has entered into an alliance agreement with Hortonworks, a leading contributor to and provider of enterprise Apache Hadoop, in a further strategic move to build its big data and digital capabilities and bring big outcomes from big data and analytics to its clients. Accenture and Hortonworks will collaborate on making large structured and unstructured datasets — including operational, video and sensor data — more accessible to organizations for insight-driven decision-making.

Working with Hortonworks, Accenture will also support clients who are looking to marry the Hortonworks Data Platform with their existing IT infrastructure, in order to build highly scalable hybrid solutions that enable them to better manage, transform and analyze data at scale for on demand insights.

“Data technologies are evolving rapidly, and enterprises and governments are challenged with how to adopt them while making sure the wealth of information is not inaccessible or underutilized,” said Narendra Mulani, senior managing director, Accenture Analytics, now a part of Accenture Digital. “As companies move toward becoming digital businesses, they need to analyze all of their data to find key insights that will drive business outcomes. Our alliance with Hortonworks underpins our commitment to help clients embrace the challenges of digital transformation and accelerate returns from their data and analytics investments.”

“Through this new alliance, Hortonworks is able to bring Enterprise Hadoop to Accenture’s highly respected client base via new best-in-class big data offerings,” said Herb Cunitz, President, Hortonworks. “Accenture’s deep industry knowledge, analytics expertise and global delivery capability combined with Hortonworks’ Hadoop leadership, offers a compelling value proposition for companies seeking to capitalize on the real benefits of a data-driven approach to business.”

Accenture and Hortonworks began working together in 2012 to develop a collaboration that would bring together the strength of the Hortonworks Data Platform, a 100 percent open source, fully-tested and certified Apache Hadoop data platform, along with Accenture’s consulting and delivery practice.
