Simba Technologies announced today that it has worked with Intel to provide ODBC access to the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop software. Simba’s Apache Hive and HBase ODBC Drivers with SQL Connectors provide customers access to their data for Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics using the SQL-based application of their choice on the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop software.
“Both Simba’s Apache Hive and HBase ODBC Driver with SQL Connector are based upon the latest ODBC standard, opening up the entire ecosystem of SQL-based applications to access and analyze Big Data in Hadoop,” said George Chow, Simba’s CTO. “ODBC connectivity to the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop software makes data accessible to enterprise users, using proven tools found in the data scientist’s and business user’s BI toolbox.”

Built upon the SimbaEngine SDK driver development framework, Simba’s Apache Hive ODBC Driver with SQL Connector and Apache HBase ODBC Driver with SQL Connector complies with the latest ODBC 3.52 data standard and adds functionality such as Unicode and 32- and 64-bit support for high-performance computing environments on all platforms.
