AMAX today announced the immediate availability of PHAT-Data version 2.0 for Big Data processing and analytics enabled by the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop.

"The AMAX PHAT-Data analytics accelerator, with an Intel-verified 1-Terabyte Terasort time of only 33 minutes on a 5-node cluster, has been tuned and optimized to deliver near real-time big data processing and analytics," said James Huang, Enterprise Product Manager at AMAX.
Using the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop software, PHAT-Data provides monitoring, management, and diagnostics capabilities enabling system administrators with a configurable dashboard to monitor processing, memory, network and storage utilization metrics and ability to assess the health of cluster components such as data nodes, the distributed file system, MapReduce jobs, and Java Virtual Machine. In addition, PHAT-Data now supports multiple levels of secure authentication and authorization using Kerberos and built-in access control rules.
Where traditional data processing can cost $50k per terabyte, PHAT-Data claims to process data at a cost below $1k per terabyte.
