SDL today announced a series of new machine translation (MT) capabilities in its Language Platform that will help businesses translate new content within the enterprise. The capability is designed to translate content such as e-commerce sites, social media or help forums to better customer experiences.
Big Data has created unprecedented challenges across the enterprise. And the volume, variety and velocity of information, multiplied by the number of languages required for a global business, have transformed Big Data challenges into Big Language challenges. According to SDL, machine translation is the only technology that is scalable and cost-effective enough to handle this Big Language challenge.
SDL offers MT integration with translation workflow, as well as a self-training capability for translation teams to improve MT quality and translator productivity.
Types of content that can now be translated include real-time content such as chat, email and social media. Additionally, MT is now integrated across the entire set of language technologies in the platform - including SDL WorldServer, SDL TMS, SDL GroupShare and SDL Trados Studio - leveraging solid, well-documented APIs.
"Our mission is to eliminate barriers to global communication by helping solve Big Language challenges within every industry," said Keith Laska, CEO of the SDL Language Technologies division. "By delivering our market-leading technologies via a powerful, integrated enterprise platform, and putting MT in the hands of users, we hope to provide the right technology and tools for every global communication need across the organization."
